Cane holsters & carry cases

The Ambutech Mobility Cane Holster in blue denim, lying flat: a long, flat V-shaped open pocket with black piping around its edges and a black strap divider across its face; the pocket is open at the top and tapered toward the bottom, and a belt loop and clip sit on its back side.
The standard holster: the folded cane drops into the open top, its end sits proud, and one pull deploys it — no zips, no flaps, nothing to undo by feel.

The verdict: A folded cane needs a home on your body, or it ends up in a back pocket — where it falls out in restaurant booths, car seats, and theater rows. A holster keeps the folded cane on your belt, in the same place, every time, with both hands free. A pouch does the same job crossbody or clipped to a bag. This is a small category — Ambutech’s own accessory line, checked live in October 2026, carries just five pouch, holster, and hook products — so the honest list below is short, specific, and current about stock.

The standard: Ambutech Mobility Cane Holster — $23.11 (leather $25.71). A V-shaped denim pocket about nine inches deep, open at the bottom, with a belt loop and a clip, worn at the hip. The folded cane (four or five sections) drops in and the top sits proud so you can grab it; deploying is one pull. Two honest limits: it does not fit canes with large tips — a rolling ball or jumbo roller won’t sit in it — and stock is a moving target: it was out of stock at Ambutech and temporarily out of stock at the Braille Superstore when our research checked in October 2026. The buy box links Ambutech’s own page so you can check today’s stock rather than trust ours.

The belt-pack: Ambutech Belt-Pack Cane Holster — £37 (about $47) at RNIB. A nylon waist pack that adds storage to the holster idea: a large zip pocket, a small velcro-flap pocket, and the cane holster on the side, fitting waists from 80 to 117 cm. Same large-tip limit as the holster — rolling ball, jumbo roller, and disk tips need not apply. It’s the pick for travelers who want the cane, the wallet, and the phone in one grab.

The pouch: Blind Life Cane Pouch by Feeldom — from $49. A purpose-built soft pouch for a folded white cane, carried over the shoulder, crossbody, or clipped to a bag — made with The Blind Life, the blind-run gear channel, so it was designed by someone who carries a cane daily. The limited-edition XP version runs about $68 to $69; a smaller Jr. version starts around $46. Ambutech also sells a plain Mobility Cane Pouch — its price was not shown in Ambutech’s store listing during our research, so we mark it unconfirmed rather than guess.

Table hooks — the other place a cane needs a home. At a restaurant table, the choice is a cane on the floor (a trip hazard and a dirt magnet) or hooked on the table edge in front of you. Ambutech’s Small Cane Hook (from $6.75) and Grippit Cane Holder (from $4.71) exist for exactly this, and the Merry Sticks reflective holder clip (about $10 to $13 on Amazon) hangs a cane from tables and chairs. A few dollars, and your cane is where your hand expects it when dinner ends.

The blind-specific details

Works without sightYes — the whole point is a fixed place your hand already knows. Holster at the same hip, cane in and out by touch alone.
One-handed useThe test that matters: can you stow and draw the cane one-handed, holding a door, a drink, or a dog with the other? Holsters pass; deep cases in a bag are a two-hand job.
Watch out forVertical holsters and low chairs: a folded cane riding at the hip can poke the seat back or slip when you sit — worth one practice sit before a long dinner. And a case that zips is a case that must be unzipped; drawstring tops are faster by feel.
