Talking bathroom scale — Taylor 7084
The verdict: Step on, stand still, hear your weight. The Taylor 7084 announces it in English, Spanish, Greek, German, or Croatian, up to 440 pounds — no app, no display, no asking anyone.
It’s a mainstream product, not a specialty one, which is exactly why it’s popular: a clear-glass Taylor scale with step-on auto power that happens to talk. Its 4.5 stars come from 2,455 reviews — general buyers, not a blind-only pool — so the blind-specific notes below matter more than the star count.
The blind-specific details
| Works without sight | Yes — weight is announced automatically when you step on. |
|---|---|
| Setup without sighted help | Batteries and a flat floor. Language selection is the one step where a sighted helper or a call may save time on day one. |
| Controls you can feel | None needed in daily use — that’s the appeal. Step on, listen, step off. |
| Watch out for | Glass scales must sit on hard, level flooring; on carpet the reading drifts. Place it once, leave it there, and weigh in the same spot. |
